This is one of my go-to spots for a quick bite if I want to grab something quick for dinner. They have a variety of udon dishes, and appetizers like croquette.  The restaurant is very small and only seats maybe 6-7 people, so most people do take out here and go home.

I usually switch between the veggie udon or beef udon when I come. The Man behind the counter is also very friendly. I believe they are owned by ramen underground since I asked about a restroom and they pointed me to the other restaurant.

I like Udon more than Ramen, so when this place opened up I was excited to check it out.  It is a small space, so it's more of a pick up and go kind of restaurant.  The line moves along very fast.

    LUNCH
    Kitsune Udon (no meat)
    +extra tempura flakes

Solid udon but with SF prices. The udon fills me up, but I can imagine someone with a larger appetite may still leave hungry.  I think they serve curry now, I'd like to try that next time!

Located on the hot corner of Belsen Lane strip, a solid  spot in a great location.

Niku Udon with Beef was very good, broth is on the sweeter side, but clean, light, and clear which I enjoy.

The Curry Rice was solid. The Chicken Katy's add on was a bit dried and thin. I would prefer to pay more with nice cut of chicken.

We came for lunch and it was 1 man show. The chef was the one did everything. So it was a little wait.

A few tables to dine in but take out is more what their style is.

Fair price for what you get, but if you are big eater. You will need more to fill you up.

Looks like this place is pretty new, and it's a small unassuming spot off the street. Decor is v minimal as it's meant to be a grab and go joint, but it does have some seating (great if you're eating solo like me).

It was hot today so instead of going for typical udon, I went with the cold udon option. Seems to be just a separated udon with a cooler broth (was expecting something like tsukemen) but the noodles were perfectly chewy and broth was clean and good (just nothing to write home about!) Also ordered a taiyaki that had to be freshly fried; it was so good and delicious!

I was going to rate this 4 stars since it's good but not phenomenal or anything, but the service is what pushes it up to me. To-go service is always a hit or miss, but the cashier was super friendly and attentive, making recommendations to those who asked and still finding time to check on seated customers (even delivering food directly to the table).  I'll def be back to try a niku udon or one of their donburi options.

Udon underground is in the building that has the sign "Japanese cuisine" on it. Do t get confused--it took me a bit of circling to find it, but it's there & very much worth it.

I ordered the niku udon with a potato croquette. The niku udon broth was piping hot when it came out. It was so clear and light, but also incredibly flavorful--you could definitely taste the rich bonito stock. The shredded beef was marinated really well, shredded very thinly and tasted delicious. The udon noodles were also delicious, the high quality kind where it's got a little bit of chewyness to it. But the noodles would be the only feature I found could be improved upon. Simply put, this place would be on par and perhaps better than  Marugame Udon (which is coming soon) if they upgraded the udon noodles. But honestly, for a quick takeout lunch spot, this place has already more than met my expectations in both quality and service. The other plus is that it's not often crowded and is FAST.

The potato croquette was delicious. It tasted like they just fried it on the spot (which I think they did--no way could they keep that croquette that fresh and crispy under a heat lamp). In that regard, it's better than the tempura that sits under heat lamps at other udon places.

Also serves a pretty delicious looking unagi don (eel bowl) for $15.
